VOLTRAIN is an exciting new programme that provides subsidised training opportunities for those working within voluntary and not-for-profit organisations.

VOLTRAIN has been specifically designed to raise standards within organisations by addressing identified skills shortages with individual training programmes; VOLTRAIN will help employers, employees and volunteers alike.

VOLTRAIN aims to

  • Raise the professional capacity of voluntary and community organisations, charities and other not-for-profit enterprises by developing and accrediting the skills of managers, staff and volunteers
  • Help those organisations better serve the communities they represent

VOLTRAIN offers

  • Organisational and individual Training Needs Analyses
  • Delivery of NVQ Level 2, 3 and 4 qualifications in a range of relevant subjects
  • Support for individuals with literacy/numeracy development needs
VOLTRAIN – Get on board!

VOLTRAIN will help

  • Individuals aged 19+ employed by, or volunteering with, community and voluntary organisations looking to achieve their first Level 2/Level 3 qualification
  • Individuals already possessing a Level 2 qualification to achieve additional qualifications relevant to their work activity
  • Those needing help to develop literacy/numeracy skills
  • Those looking to develop management level skills or have their skills recognised

It's easy to get on board with VOLTRAIN – follow our six key easy steps

  1. Give VOLTRAIN a call – we can then have a preliminary discussion and provide interested employers with outline information on the programme
  2. Leave us to it – a member or members of the highly experienced VOLTRAIN team will carry out a detailed needs assessment with organisations, individual employees and volunteers
  3. An individual solution – this is in the form of an Individual Learning Plan(s) which will identify the particular form of assistance that would best benefit the individual(s)
  4. Skills for Life – where VOLTRAIN have identified Skills for Life requirements, individuals will be provided with the appropriate level of support to enable them to develop their skills
  5. Ongoing support – Individuals will be supported through a programme of learning workshops and individual workplace assessments towards their chosen qualification
  6. Achieving valuable qualifications – Ongoing assessment and review will guide the individual(s) through the learning programme and towards their ultimate goal of qualification

Other Information

  • Participants will be able to self-refer, but will be required to have the support of the organisation for whom they are working/volunteering
  • Information, Advice & Guidance will be offered to individuals at the initial assessment stage and throughout the course of the programme

Train to Gain is a flagship government service offering free or subsidised training to employers to help them improve their productivity and competitiveness through skills development. It is funded through the Learning & Skills Council and operated by approved providers of training – both colleges and private training organisations.

Wessex Partnerships (WPL) is the lead partner responsible for marketing, promotional events, employer engagement and contract management.

Portsmouth and Barton Peveril Colleges

The college partners will undertake organisational and individual needs analyses and deliver training and assessment, development, and Information, Advice & Guidance.
